The Meaning of Life

18 = chai (chet-yud, 8-10), life. The triangle of 8 = 36 (all numbers from 1 to 8) and of 10 = 55, together = 91, the triangle of 13, love.

Life is love, as King Solomon says, "See life with the woman you love" = 1599 = 13 times 123, love times pleasure.

The dot-product of the 2 4-letter words love (ahavah) and life (chaim) = 278 = the concealed light, the light God concealed in the Torah.

Squaring each letter of life (chaim) gives 1864 = 8 times 233, the Tree of Life = 2 times 932, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

The average value of the 4 letters of life = good, and that of the 4 words of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil = the Tree of Life.

Thus we see that the 2 trees of the Garden of Eden are entangled one in the other by the ratio 1:4, the secret of the 4 letter Name Havayah.

Eating the forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil causes good and evil to become entangled and mixed together.

After eating the forbidden fruit it is impossible to do good without a trace of evil mixed in, without a sense of ego that I did good.

The 3 letters of "one" stand for "light" "life" "knowledge." Plants transform light to life, humans transform life to knowledge.

Every moment of one's life one learns something new, adds to oneself a bit of knowledge. The bits connect and become a body of knowledge.

Life's continual learning process does not necessarily take place in the conscious mind. Rather it occurs in the realm of the unconscious.

The depth of the learning process that takes place in one's unconscious depends upon the level of one's involvement in conscious learning.

To the degree that I devote myself to the study of the Torah, so does my unconscious mind integrate the teachings of my life's experiences.

To devote oneself to the study of Torah means to learn in order to act thereby, to align one's will with God's will, and to cling to Him.

Spiritual rectification begins with loving to learn Torah, by being enraptured by its unique logic and the depths of its mysteries.
