School for Jewish Psychology

Torat Hanefesh provides students with multidisciplinary studies in the areas of Jewish psychology. We do not teach psychology from a Jewish perspective, but rather the authentic and purely Jewish approach to psychological well-being taught by the Ba'al Shem Tov and further developed by his disciples, especially the Alter Rebbe of Chabad and the Lubavitch tradition. Based on the classic teachings of Chassidut, we have developed a firm basis and methodology for training both professional health practitioners and non-professionals in understanding the psyche properly and helping both themselves and others attain psychological well-being. We hope that with the Almighty's help, we will continue to reap His blessings as a result of our continued endeavors to spread and expand Torah learning in this field.

A parallel course of studies for English speakers was launched two years ago. Now in its third year, 15 women will be completing our 3 year program in the spring of 2014.

The English program is similar in structure to the Hebrew program and offers rich and varied coursework combining a profound introduction to the foundations of the psychology of the soul according to Kabbalah and Chassidut together with workshop-style classes that place greater emphasis on the students’ incorporating the studies into their daily lives while keeping in mind the more practical applications of Jewish psychology.
