Q&A: Family? Career?

Q: Before my marriage, I began academic studies, but I felt that this was not God’s will. After my marriage I worked, but as more children were born I felt that it was better to stay at home. Thank God, I have a small income from work I do from my home. I am an artist and I also studied in Torat Hanefesh, Gal Einai’s School for Chassidic Psychology. I am considering returning to academic studies so that I can get a degree and increase our income. In my mind, it is clear to me that this is what I should do, but my heart is not happy with it.

A: Certainly, you should not do anything outside your home that you don’t feel is right for you from the very outset. You can continue you studies at Torat Hanefesh if you enjoy the studies, not necessarily for a degree and potential livelihood.

In general, it is not good to feel tension. Every child comes with his sustenance. Many children bring much livelihood. The main thing is to do what you can to help and bring happiness to others, and God will take care of you and all of your needs.
