Q: How should the principles of the Talmud Torahs (Torah-study grade schools) relate to the closure of our schools. Should we organize informal learning that is in keeping with the health guidelines?
A: Children’s Torah study (and adult Torah study) should not be closed down. Torah is our greatest merit to safeguard us. Even when the Talmud Torah is closed, it is possible to organize Torah study in private homes and the like. (In small groups. The children can study together and sing, and beseech God for His compassion – with joy.) Of course, we should also be spreading the teachings of Chassidut in every way possible, within the parameters of the public-health limitations.
