Q&A: Should I Try to Strengthen My Mother’s Torah Observance?

Q: My mother is Jewish and my father is a non-Jew. Thank God, I have become Torah observant, but I do not know how to relate to my parents. If I try to strengthen my mother in her Torah observance, she will ultimately have to divorce my father and I do not want to push her in that direction. (I don’t think that my father is interested in conversion. He shows no true interest in Judaism).

A: You should definitely strengthen your mother in her religious observance, bringing her closer to Torah and mitzvot. Perhaps this will influence your father. (No matter what, any mitzvah that your mother fulfills is worth the entire world).
