Q: How can the Rabbi talk about positive aspects of feminism? The feminist movement is completely secular and certainly there is nothing Jewish about it.
A: Even though feminism, as it is perceived in the world, is mostly a secular movement, it has an internal point. Sometimes, something happening outside is a reflection of an internal point – something that is happening or should be happening in the world in a holy manner. The secular feminist revolution is really an expression of an internal process taking place, which is connected to Mashiach: The ascent of Malchut (Kingdom). In Kabbalah, the woman represents the sefirah of Kingdom and only when she will ascend in the proper manner will the kingdom of Israel, the kingdom of Mashiach, manifest in reality.
