Q: I have heard that some alternative healing methods are not kosher. How can I know which method is fine and which is problematic?
A: Here are some general guidelines for working with alternative healing.
Healing methods:
1. Should not have a foreign name
2. Should be understandable in purely physical terms
3. Should not offer a way of life (Torat Chaim) but rather be a specific method for healing
4. Should not have any foreign associations whatsoever
Remember, it doesn't matter how positive the treatment may seem to be, or what altruistic goal it seems to accomplish. If it is foreign as above, it can prove detrimental on a deeper level of the soul, even though it seems to bear positive results superficially.
